Three Steps You Must Follow To Avoid Childhood Obesity by Nana

Childhood obesity has now become a worldwide problem. More and more children these days are suffering the same symptoms and diseases that were once only seen in adults; heart disease, high cholesterol and type 2 diabetes, to name just a few. Obesity is becoming one of the serious problems day by day all over the world. Obesity is termed as increase in the body weight of an individual due to excessive accumulation of fats. Where do all the little needles point to when they get hungry? You're the one they look to, when they are young, to buy, prepare, and serve the food they eat. This is when good or bad habits are developed. You set the rules and govern the amount of food and type of food that comes into the house. To battle childhood obesity there are three steps you must follow.
1.Eating dinner at the table more than 5 times a week .
2.Sleep at least 10.5 hours a night.
3.Watch less than 2 hours of TV a day.
It's that simple? In a study conducted by Sarah Anderson, Ph.D, and assistant professor of epidemiology at Ohio State University, 8,550 4 year old from around the United States followed these three steps and were found to be 40 percent less likely to become obese than children that did none of these things.
When you sit down to dinner, as a family, without TV, you can regulate what your children eat , the proportions and the proper amounts. If they are sitting in front of the TV, how are you going to know if they ate their broccoli or the dog ate it? In some families the parents are working two jobs or odd hours and the only time they can see the kids is if they let them stay up late. If they stay up late that means less sleep, more treats and TV. Bad, BAD and more BAD. 10.5 hours a night gives kids the rest they need to be energetic and active the next day. You can't pay attention in school if you stay up late. We have all heard the evils of TV all our lives but what does that have to do with being obese? If you are sitting around watching TV you are most likely, if you 're a kid, not doing any type of exercise. You are probably snacking and your probably staying up late. All together now bad, BAD and more BAD! Less than 2 hours a day of TV is recommended by this study. That gives a kid time to come home from school, play outside, come in and do homework, eat dinner Then see some TV before getting the 10.5 hours sleep they need. It's all about education. You get what you need and then you'll be able to give what they need! Visit:http://affiliatemoneyathome.com/weightloss/

Why should you loose weight?

Why should you loose weight?

Many children know that they are obese or at least obese. But what they fail to realise is the effect that this can have on them in later life.

When you are a child you body produces fat cells in order to store the level of fat that you have in your body. When you are a child the number of these cells can increase or decrease. The lower the number of cells you have the easier it is to loose weight.

The problem comes when you are obese as a child and continue to be obese as an adult. This is a problem as it means that you will find it a lot harder to loose weight as an adult. This is due to the fact that the fat cells tell your body the level of fat that they need to store and it is therefore much harder to consume lower amounts of fat than you are used to.

If you loose the weight as a child your body will loose some of these fat cells and it therefore becomes a lot easier to keep the fat off.

Fast Food Effects On Childhood Obesity by Terry Schierer

As the number of obese children in America grows, so do the health problems that are a direct result of the fast food effects on childhood obesity. Statistics show that between 10% and 15% of today's children are already obese, and this does not include the children that are at risk for quickly becoming obese.

There are a number of factors that are related to the rise of obesity in children in the United States, including television, video games, advertising, and the foods children eat.

One of the biggest culprits is the high consumption of fast food among children, and while an occasional stop at McDonald's probably will not lead to obesity, it is the children who are consuming fast food on a regular basis that are at such a high risk.

With the hectic lives of many parents and their children, many times instead of a healthy well balanced meal, people are turning to fast food for a quick fix at mealtime.

This quickly becomes a habit in the lives of many people and some children end up eating fast food meals almost every day.

Uninformed parents may wonder why fast food is such a bad choice for children, but once people realize that the consumption of fast food leads to consuming more calories, more fat, more sugars, and more carbohydrates, the fast food effects on childhood obesity becomes clear.

One average, if your child eats fast food only 2-3 times each week, this can result in an extra six pounds gained every year, which can quickly add up. If your child eats fast food every day, then he or she is likely to gain even more weight.

For parents to understand completely how fast food is causing their child to become obese, they need to take a closer look at the nutritional facts surrounding the food their children eat.

For example, if your child wants one double cheeseburger, a large order of fries, and a large coke, your child will end up consuming 1340 calories and 53 grams of fat in one meal.

In general adults only are to consume about 2000 calories a day, and children less than that, so in one meal a child has consumed almost an entire day's worth of calories and fat. Add a small vanilla shake to that meal and you get a whopping total of 1760 calories and 63 grams of fat.

When you take the time to actually see what children are eating, it becomes very apparent why so many children are dealing with obesity.

Saying you'll never let your child eat fast food again may be a bit extreme, but in their best interest you should try to cut down fast food consumption to only a couple times each month. By cutting the amount of fast food your child consumes you will help them eliminate a number of the fast food effects on childhood obesity.

Parents need to remember that obesity is serious and can lead to a variety of health problems, both as a child and as an adult. If you want to protect your child from serious health problems such as diabetes, heart attacks, and liver disease, then it is time to take control and start limiting the amount of fast food in their diet.

The Typical American Menu Produces A Fat American by Paula Martinez

The typical menu in any restaurant reflects the eating habits of the consumer. The U.S. will have three quarters of the population reporting in as overweight or obese in 2015. The prediction is that 41% will be classified as obese. In 8 years 75% of the population will be overweight based on Current Obesity Statistics. Right now we are currently at 66% with 34% who can be classified as obese. Youfa Wand MD, PHD and colleagues working in Baltimore at John Hopkins Bloomberg Scholl of Public Health's Center for Human Nutrition has reviewed 20 studies on the growing epidemic of overweight adults, teens, and kids.

The study found that the weight gain is showing up at the waistline. This type weight gain puts you at risk for diabetes and heart disease. This fact shows up in waist circumference that has gone up by about 4 inches for men and 7 inches for women. This has occurred between 1960 and 2000. Asian-Americans born in the U.S. are four times to be obese as their counterparts in their homeland.

The typical American menu seems to help produce a fat American. What is an American menu; it is where the food choices at a dinning facility serve what is considered typical American food. It is reflected in most burger and fast food establishments. With the rising production of food that has a shelf life into the next decade, we are drowning in synthetic food. The problem we eat it like we are starving. The truth is that these products set up cravings and fool with the production of insulin. From sunrise to sunset we are eating wide array of sugary, starchy and sodium polluted meals and snacks.

The typical American menu promotes products with all the above ingredients. A fat American is the product of this type eating. If you keep eating from the establishments with the oversized meals it shows. We reward children by setting them up for a lifetime of obesity. We push for more production by fatting up farm animals and getting them to produce unnatural amounts of milk for the market place. The food manufacturers try for more tantalizing green, blue and other color gunk to temp kids with. This is again reflected in menu fare aimed at children.

I wonder is the American public solely responsible for all the causes and conditions that lead to this obesity epidemic, or is to the point where the victim gets blamed for the crime. Sugary items and refined grains are the stuff that tops the menu at many eating places. White flour products that have the bran stripped out of it are things that make your blood sugar spike quickly. Then it drops and hunger ensues.

What if they got the American consumer hook line and sinker? Once started eating this way, it is extremely difficult to not participate, while becoming more vulnerable to the influence these products have on your hormones and chemistry. The sights, aroma, and childhood memories of being offered these concoctions can be very tantalizing. Around every corner there is some eating place hawking these delights.

Childhood Obesity

Along with the increase of obesity in adult, childhood obesity is on the rise. Around 15.5 percent of adolescents in the United States, aged 12 to 19 are obese. Even more alarming, about 15.3 percent of children ages 6 to 11 are obese. These children are developing Type II Diabetes and high blood pressure at an early age. They are placing themselves at increased risk for heart disease and other obesity-related diseases. Their weight also makes them the target of bullies and children who insult and taunt them about their weight. This can ruin their self-esteem and put them at risk for depression.
Today’s children make up the digital generation. They’ve been surrounded by computers their entire life and are not as physically active as children of past generations were. Instead of going outside and playing, they tend to hang out indoors, watching TV and playing computer and video games. Along with lack of physical activity comes the convenience of fast food. There are fast food restaurants virtually around every corner, and they have easy access to snack foods full of saturated fats and sugars. In addition, obese parents are more likely to have obese children. The reason for this is two-fold. First, obese parents probably pass down their poor habits to their children. Second, genetics plays a role in obesity. It’s important for parents to be role models to their children and emphasize the importance of physical activity and healthy eating. Parents can create healthy environments for their children by doing regular physical activities, such as biking, swimming, or walking together. They should encourage their children to participate in sports, dance, martial arts, and etcetera. This allows children to develop an appreciation of physical activity and enjoy exercising. When it comes to eating, parents need to implement diets rich in fruits, vegetables, and whole-grains. They can make eating enjoyable and healthy by preparing food together and eating together as a family. Fast-food should be limited and reserved for special occasions. Way too often, we reward ourselves for a job well done with food. Look for other ways to reward your children for doing a great job, such as a special shopping trip or a day with just mom or dad.

Statisctics for Childhood Obesity

Child obesity rates are soaring just as high as adult statistics and this is a serious problem that needs to be addressed straight away!! Most child obesity problems stem from the fact that the child was bigger when they were younger therefore the problem was inevitably going to come back. It is so easy to gain weight in a world that convenience foods are most peoples answer to a good and proper meal, and where parents think that food should be used as a reward for children doing something good, all they are doing is contributing to civilizations biggest problem and dooming their child to a life of fatdom.

There are many emotional drawbacks as well as physical drawbacks when it comes to child obesity. When the child goes to school he will automatically become a target for school bullies, the other children will pick on him and he will begin to get depressed and loose interest in school when school should be the happiest time of any child's life! To prevent this from happening measures need to be taken to loose the weight of your child.

There are also some serious physical drawbacks to having an obese child, he will be a target for chronic diseases such as type 2 diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, bowel cancer and high cholesterol. Those are only some of the more serious problems he will face, other more general problems will be day to day activities will be hindered by his size, nice clothes wont fit him, general movement will be slow as all the extra weight causes pressure on his organs and muscles.

More often than not though once obesity is caught at a young age it can be prevented but when the child gets older to know the difference he must watch what he eats and take care of his health. He is advised to regularly exercise, but this does not mean going to a gym, going out to play football or going to the park are all good things he can be doing to get rid of his excess weight. The parents need to take a look at their lifestyle as well childhood obesity stems from the fact that the parents are not setting a good example and letting their children get grossly overweight.

All this trouble and anxiety can all be prevented with a sensible eating plan and moderate exercise. Don't waste time trying to fix the problem once its happened, save time before it has happened and prevent the problem!

Statistics of Obesity in America

A recent development is both serious and life-threatening! Statistics show that 60% of Americans are overweight. But discomfort about one's appearance is not the only downside. Obese individuals have a higher rate of many chronic and deadly conditions, including cancer and heart disease. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention predicts obesity will soon be America's number one killer. What steps do we need to take now to become a slimmer, healthier nation?
"Yummy, yummy, yummy, see my obese tummy!" should perhaps be America's new national anthem.

How Overweight Is America?

How serious is obesity in America?

According to Kathleen Donnelly for MSN Health & Fitness, statistics show that "...60 percent of adult Americans weigh too much, and 17 percent of American children and teens are overweight." And the problem continues to escalate. In the past thirty years, children in the USA are increasingly tipping the scales. The rise of obesity among children between the ages of 6 and 11 has gone from 4% to 13 % in three decades. Obesity in US children ages 12 to 19 has gone from 5% to 14%. And if a child is obese at the age of 6, it has a 50/50 chance of being obese for life. Obese thirteen year olds have a 75% likelihood of being obese for the rest of their lives. This problem is even more severe among blacks and Hispanics.

To remedy their plight, 103,000 morbidly obese Americans living in the United States had gastric bypass surgery in 2003. The complication rate was 7%.

What causes obesity?

Several causes for obesity have been suggested, including heredity, social-economic conditions, diet, and exercise. Since we can't control who our parents are, let's focus on social-economic conditions, diet, and exercise.

Obesity & Social-economic conditions

Numerous studies have concluded that there is a direct cause and effect relationship between a person's level of education and their odds of being overweight. The greater their level of learning is, the slimmer their odds of obesity are.

Dysfunctional Diets, Inadequate Exercise, and Bulging Belt-lines

Of course, two obvious causes of obesity are dysfunctional diets and a lack of proper exercise. Americans are exercising less and less while simultaneously consuming too much junk food. The average US woman is now consuming 335 more calories per day than the average woman in 1971. Calorie intake among men has increased to an additional 168 calories per day. Is it any wonder that America is increasingly becoming an obese nation?
Health Risks Associated with Obesity

Discomfort about one's appearance, however, is not the only downside to obesity. There are numerous health risks associated with being overweight. Obese individuals have a higher-than-normal rate of hypertension, type 2 diabetes, high lipids, gallbladder disease, osteoarthritis, strokes, respiratory disease, some types of cancers, heart disease, and other chronic and deadly conditions. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention predicts obesity will soon be America's number one killer. In 2000, tobacco was linked to 435,000 deaths while obesity was close behind at 400,000 deaths.

What to Do About Obesity

There are primarily three things that most experts recommend to help maintain a healthy weight level: 1) Getting the proper amount of exercise, 2) eating a healthy, well-balanced diet, and 3) supplementing one's diet with nutritional products.

The Value of Exercise

If you're considering going on a diet to lose weight, remember that the important thing is not just to lose weight, but to keep it off. In order to lose weight and keep it off, there is no substitute for exercise. One study reported by The National Weight Control Registry shows that out of 3,000 individuals who lost a minimum of 30 pounds and kept it off for more than a year, only 9 percent lost weight without exercising.
How much exercise should an individual get?

The proper amount of exercise that an individual should get of course varies from individual to individual. To make certain you are getting the proper amount of exercise, consult your family physician.

Melissa Tennen, HealthAtoZ writer, says: "Get at least 30 minutes of activity on most days. To prevent weight gain, 60 minutes a day may be necessary."
What is a Healthy Diet?

The short answer to the question, "What is a healthy diet?" is to eat a well-balanced diet that is as close as possible to the way nature intended. Fast foods and highly-processed foodless foods have been proven to have ill-effects on one's health. Many are high in calories and low in nutritional value.

Yet not everyone has the time, the money, or the ability to eat "The Perfect Diet." So what's the
solution?

The Importance of Supplementing Your Diet
No doubt, in a perfect world, we would not need vitamin pills, diet pills, and other nutritional supplements. We'd simply get everything our body needs from our food. But let's get a reality check: This is not Eden. And getting everything your body needs from your diet alone is almost impossible. Plus, if you are overweight, you need extra help.

What to look for in a Weight-Loss Pill

If you're looking for "The Perfect Weight Loss Pill," there are a number of things to consider. Here are just a few:

Does the product's formula utilize nutrients in the most absorbable and potent form available?
Most companies compromise on their nutrients. They use poorly absorbed forms or synthetically derived fractions of nutrients.
Does the product use ephedra stimulants or dangerous fat blockers?
For accelerated fat-loss support and increased performance, you need help with reducing hunger, utilizing fat, enhancing metabolism, and increasing true energy levels. Insist on a weight loss product that delivers all natural support for healthy weight loss, without using ephedra stimulants.

Also, avoid dangerous fat blockers. The perfect solution is to find a weight loss pill that works by helping support healthy digestion of stored fat and a healthy metabolism. Lipase is the enzyme responsible for breaking down fat, making it available for utilization as energy. Without lipase, fat is stored as excess body fat.
Does the product contain Citrin K™ and CLA?
Research shows Citrin K™ and CLA as two powerful ingredients in helping maintain healthy fat burning. Also important are Guggul lipids and chelated minerals. They help maintain a healthy thyroid and will reduce cravings. Weight loss pills containing these ingredients make for a healthier, safer and more effective body fat reduction formula.

Don't forget the importance of fiber
Special types of fiber will expand in your stomach and will reduce your hunger without stimulation and drug-like effects. This, in turn, will help to nutritionally support healthy body fat levels.

Your body needs energy to burn fat
Finally, the most needed factor in losing body fat is keeping your energy levels up so you have the energy burn more fat. Are there really any nutrients available today that help promote healthy and safe fat reduction? YES! Although there are many supplements today containing herbs like Guarana, MaHuang and Ephedra that can have potentially harmful side effects, there are still many that safely help the body reduce its fat stores.
Here are just a few of the most powerful nutrients which have been well-documented:

CLA (Conjugated Linoleic Acid)

A study published in The Journal of Nutrition (December 2000, V12) established that the natural dietary supplement conjugated Linoleic Acid (CLA) reduces body fat. Jan Wadstein, MD, PhD, associate professor at Lund University in Sweden states, "CLA may be a valuable weight management supplement to any diet regimen. Keeping lean body mass and speeding up fat loss are the keys to a successful weight program."

Garcinia Cambogia

Another supplement essential for weight loss is natural organic acid extract from the rind of the Malabar tamarind called Garcinia Cambogia. This compound has been associated with gradual decrease in body fat, nutritionally supporting healthy cholesterol levels, and suppressing hunger cravings frequently. A study performed by Katts, et al, concluded the administration of Garcinia Cambogia reduced deposition of body fat and promoted increased weight loss in human subjects. Citrin K is a proprietary formula proven to suppress appetite. The best and most researched form of Garcinia Cambogia can be found in our proprietary blend called Citrin K. Citrin K also supplies potassium, which plays a major role in maintaining the body's fluid balance. There are other forms of Garcinia Cambogia on the market, but they don't have the potency guarantee that Citrin K does.

Other micronutrients needed to support body fat metabolism include vitamin A, vitamin B, vitamin C and Zinc and Chromium. Look for a weight-loss supplement that will supply you with the highest quality of whole food vitamins and amino acid chelated minerals. This will help to nutritionally support a healthy metabolism, further enhancing your results.

Theobromine

Theobromine is an extraordinary nutrient found in chocolate. It helps maintain healthy levels of stress, giving you a confident and powerful feeling of health. This is a vital component to look for in a weight control product because it nutritiously supports the body in appetite suppression and provides an energetic, euphoric effect. This is very important, as many people scrap weight loss programs because of irritability and their inability to curb cravings.
So if you want to lose weight and keep it off, get the proper amount of exercise, eat a healthy, well-balanced diet, and supplement your diet with a weigh loss pill that meets the aforementioned criteria. The final word on diet pills is this: "The Perfect Weight Loss Pill" should contain the most powerful and safest nutrients available to help you nutritionally support healthy fat burning metabolism without harmful stimulants.
